What's Happening?
In 2016, a local resident in Thailand discovered large bones near a drying pond, which were later identified as belonging to Nagatitan chaiyaphumensis, the largest dinosaur ever found in Southeast Asia. This sauropod, estimated to weigh 27 tonnes and measure
27 meters in length, was part of a broader trend of size increase among Asian titanosauriforms during the middle Cretaceous. The discovery was made in the Khok Kruat Formation, a significant dinosaur-bearing rock layer in Thailand. The research was a collaborative effort involving University College London and several Thai institutions.
