What's Happening?
Germany's Bundestag has approved funding for the procurement of two types of armored fighting vehicles (AFVs) and additional Evolved SeaSparrow Missiles (ESSMs). The decision includes a framework agreement for the development and production of the Luchs
2 New Generation Reconnaissance Vehicle, valued at EUR3.54 billion, to replace the Bundeswehr's Fennek 2 vehicles. Additionally, the Schakal infantry fighting vehicle, a Boxer wheeled vehicle with a 30 mm turret, will be procured for delivery between 2027 and 2031. The contract also allows the Royal Netherlands Army to procure these vehicles, with deliveries planned for 2028.
