including the lone star tick, American dog tick, blacklegged tick, and the invasive Asian longhorned tick (ALHT). These ticks are known to transmit pathogens that can cause diseases such as Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, and bovine theileriosis. The ALHT is particularly concerning due to its ability to reproduce asexually, leading to rapid population growth. The Kentucky Office of the State Veterinarian has already reported cattle deaths linked to theileriosis and severe tick infestations.
