The study focused on the ability of simvastatin to block host-cell invasion pathways used by Porphyromonas gingivalis, a major periodontal pathogen, which allows it to evade antibiotics and cause recurrent infections. By preventing bacterial invasion and enhancing tissue regeneration, simvastatin could represent a new frontier in periodontal therapy.
