What's Happening?
Leonardo DRS is continuing its work to enhance the Morpheus and Bowman communication systems, as discussed at the International Armoured Vehicles (IAV) 2026 conference. Since 2002, Leonardo DRS has installed
over 40,000 user data terminals (UDTs) in British military platforms as part of the Bowman communications system. These terminals, which are supported by a common mainboard computer, software, interface, and radio, are used in various formats across different vehicles. The UDTs are categorized into computer types for notebooks, tablets, and tactical servers. General Dynamics UK, the prime contractor, integrates these systems with the Common Battlefield Application Toolset (ComBAT) software, which is used for command and control by the British Army. L3Harris provides the tactical radios, while Leonardo DRS supplies the tactical computing components.
