What's Happening?
The FAO/WHO Coordinating Committee for the Near East (CCNE) and the Arab Industrial Development, Standardization and Mining Organization (AIDSMO) have convened meetings to prepare for the 49th Session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC). These
meetings, part of the Arab Codex Initiative, brought together representatives from the Gulf Cooperation Council Standardization Organization and other regional bodies to discuss key agenda items for CAC49. Topics included food standards, food labelling, and new food sources. The meetings aimed to foster regional dialogue and develop coordinated approaches to advance consumer health protection and fair food trade practices.
