What's Happening?
The Quwwatul Islam Preston Muslim Society has submitted a proposal to the Preston City Council for the construction of a new sports and community centre on Deepdale Mill Street. The proposed two-storey development will feature an indoor football pitch
for up to 12 players and a multi-purpose sports court. Additionally, the facility will include two community halls with the flexibility to combine into a larger space, separate areas for men and women, showers, changing rooms, a kitchen, and food serving counters. A 17-space car park and an overflow area for 42 cars at the nearby education centre site are also part of the plan. The centre will house a 'Janazah room' for Muslim community prayers, addressing the current inadequacy of holding such services at a local nursery.
