The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has reported a significant increase in Australian visitors to Hong Kong, with a 20% rise in arrivals during the first half of 2026. From January to June, 267,000 Australians visited Hong Kong, with January alone seeing
a 32% increase. This growth continues the momentum from late 2025, with April and June also showing strong visitor numbers. The HKTB attributes this rise to Hong Kong's appeal as a destination for world-class dining, shopping, and outdoor experiences, as well as its cultural offerings and unique festivals.

The increase in Australian visitors is a positive sign for Hong Kong's tourism industry, which has been recovering from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The growth in tourism from Australia and New Zealand, with overnight arrivals increasing by 17% and 11% respectively, highlights the region's appeal and the effectiveness of HKTB's promotional efforts.
