NCPR Offers Journalism Fellowship for Aspiring Media Professionals

North Country Public Radio (NCPR) is offering the Stan Macdonald internship for aspiring journalists and media professionals. This opportunity allows students to gain hands-on experience in broadcast journalism with an NPR-affiliated public radio newsroom located at St. Lawrence University. Participants will learn technical aspects of journalism, including writing for radio and audio editing using Adobe Audition. The internship includes daily newsroom meetings, story pitching, and producing audio/multimedia stories for broadcast and online distribution. The program is divided into two phases: a spring independent study and a summer reporting/producing role. During the spring, students will work eight hours per week under the guidance of NCPR News Director David Sommerstein. In the summer, they will work full-time for eight weeks, receiving a stipend and free lodging. The application deadline is October 27, 2025, and is open to students in their first, sophomore, or junior year at St. Lawrence University.
