Uber and WeRide have launched a robotaxi service in Riyadh, marking the first time autonomous vehicles are available on the Uber platform in Saudi Arabia. The service allows Uber riders to select a WeRide robotaxi GXR for trips between Roshn Front and Princess
Noura University. Initially, each robotaxi will have a vehicle operator, with plans to transition to fully driverless operations. This initiative is supported by the Transport General Authority and follows the initial phase of autonomous vehicle operations inaugurated by the Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics Services.
