Bluetech, in collaboration with INSW, has unveiled a new tanker design called 'SeaWasp,' optimized for wind propulsion. The design incorporates two 35-meter Rotor Sails, developed with Norsepower, to maximize
forward thrust and achieve significant fuel savings. On a typical route from San Francisco to South Korea, the SeaWasp design can save up to 597.2 metric tons of fuel annually. The design modifications improve the vessel's performance by approximately 13.5% under certain conditions. The project also explored different Rotor Sail configurations to find the best balance between cost and thrust.
