What's Happening?
YMCA Thames Gateway has initiated a restricted tender process for a design-and-build contractor to redevelop its Romford site. The project, valued between £20m and £100m, includes the construction of a six-storey supported living center built to BREEAM
Excellent standards, featuring 184 en suite units and various amenities. The redevelopment plan also includes flexible studio space, public open areas, sustainable drainage systems, and a stormwater creek connected to the River Rom. Sustainability features such as low-carbon materials, solar panels, and air source heat pumps are integral to the design. The Greater London Authority is part-funding the development, with the project set to begin in March 2026 and complete by January 2028.
