New York State Police and local law enforcement agencies are increasing patrols this week as part of a statewide crackdown on speeding. The enforcement campaign, sponsored by the Governor's Traffic Safety
Committee, runs from Monday through Sunday. This initiative follows a previous 'Speed Week' campaign in June, during which officers issued over 56,000 tickets, including 14,005 for speeding. Governor Kathy Hochul emphasized the importance of adhering to speed limits to prevent fatal crashes. In 2024, New York recorded over 34,000 speed-related crashes, with 315 resulting in fatalities.
