Roger Nile Bowen, a respected member of the Salem community, passed away at the age of 88 on August 2, 2026. Born in Miletus, West Virginia, Bowen was a devoted family man, survived by his wife of 68 years, Lola Stout Bowen, and a large extended family.
He was a graduate of Bristol High School and had a long career with companies like Pennzoil and Union Carbide before retiring from the West Virginia Motor Carrier Division. Bowen was known for his love of the outdoors, particularly hunting, and his involvement in local sports, coaching Little League and Babe Ruth baseball. He was a member of the Lyda Chapel Church and cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
