What's Happening?
Clean Motion has announced significant progress in the EU Horizon Europe GIANTS project, which aims to develop a modular, scalable zero-emission vehicle platform for urban and suburban mobility. The project, running
from January 2024 to June 2027, involves 24 partners across Europe, Asia, and Africa. The GIANTS platform is fully specified and currently undergoing evaluation, with demonstration vehicles being tested at Living Labs in Gothenburg, Brugge, Kisumu, Delhi, and Manila. Clean Motion is leveraging its expertise in lightweight electric vehicle design through its EVIG platform, collaborating with partners like Renault, Toyota, and Valeo.
Why It's Important?
The GIANTS project represents a significant step towards sustainable urban mobility solutions, addressing the gap between small, single-purpose light vehicles and overengineered transport solutions. By developing an affordable and adaptable platform, Clean Motion and its partners aim to serve diverse markets, from European city logistics to emerging-market passenger transport. This initiative supports Clean Motion's mission to deliver energy-efficient, low-resource urban mobility solutions, embodying scalable, circular, and sustainable transport innovation. The project's success could accelerate the global shift to clean mobility, impacting urban transportation systems worldwide.
What's Next?
The second half of the GIANTS project will focus on demonstrating the platform's capability to meet environmental and economic demands across different global markets. Clean Motion and its partners will continue to validate performance, affordability, and sustainability across various operating conditions. The project aims to prepare materials and assembly for demonstration vehicles, showcasing the platform's adaptability and effectiveness in diverse urban environments. This phase will be crucial in proving the platform's potential to transform urban mobility and support the transition to sustainable transport solutions.
