What's Happening?
Emirates' Force for Good program, in collaboration with the Australian Tennis Foundation, has completed its first year, focusing on providing opportunities for disadvantaged children through tennis. The program, which is a $2.25 million, five-year commitment,
aims to inspire brighter futures for children across Australia. In its pilot year, the initiative has reached over 2,000 children in five Australian cities, delivering 44 programs and events with the help of 53 local community partners. The program culminated with 25 participants experiencing the Australian Open, meeting tennis legends, and enjoying the sport they have come to love. The initiative has donated over 715 racquets, nets, and balls to ensure a lasting legacy.
Why It's Important?
The Emirates Force for Good program is significant as it provides disadvantaged children with access to sports, which can improve their physical health, mental wellbeing, and confidence. By introducing children to tennis, the program offers them a chance to connect, grow, and find a sense of belonging. The initiative not only promotes physical activity but also fosters social inclusion and personal development. With 85% of participants feeling more positive about themselves and 76% more confident to try new things, the program demonstrates the transformative power of sports in building self-esteem and encouraging new experiences.
What's Next?
Building on the success of its pilot year, the Emirates Force for Good program will continue its journey in 2026, with plans to deliver more tennis programs and community events across Australia. The program aims to expand its reach and impact, providing more children with opportunities to engage in sports and develop essential life skills. As the initiative progresses, it will continue to foster partnerships with local communities and organizations to enhance its offerings and create lasting change.
Beyond the Headlines
The Emirates Force for Good program highlights the broader role of corporate social responsibility in addressing social issues. By investing in community programs, Emirates demonstrates how businesses can contribute to societal well-being and create positive change. The program also underscores the importance of sports as a tool for social development, offering children a platform to build confidence, learn teamwork, and develop resilience. As the initiative grows, it may inspire other organizations to adopt similar approaches, leveraging sports to empower disadvantaged communities.
