What's Happening?
The Open Science Data Repository (OSDR) team conducted the AWG Workshop 2023 on November 14-15 at the Capital Hilton. The event gathered approximately 125 AWG members, both in-person and virtually, marking the first physical meeting since the pandemic. The workshop included sessions on user feedback for OSDR development, focusing on RNA sequencing dataset quality, visualization platforms, non-omics datasets, and data submission agreements. Keynote speaker Keith Siew shared insights on space nephrology sample selection. The workshop also provided training on using OSDR data, machine learning models, and metanalysis.
Why It's Important?
The workshop underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in advancing scientific research and data management. By addressing user feedback and providing training, NASA aims to enhance the utility and accessibility of its data repositories. This initiative supports the scientific community in conducting high-quality research, fostering innovation, and developing new methodologies. The focus on collaboration and networking is vital for building partnerships and advancing scientific goals outlined in the 2023-2032 Decadal Survey.
What's Next?
The workshop concluded with networking sessions to discuss future collaborations and opportunities for early career scientists. Participants are encouraged to continue dialogues initiated during the event, potentially leading to new projects and grant opportunities. The AWG community is expected to play a significant role in meeting the objectives of the Decadal Survey, driving scientific progress through collaborative efforts.
