Solidaridad and the Indian Institute of Soil Science (IISS) have inaugurated the Professor Rattan Lal Awards for Excellence in Regenerative Agriculture. This initiative, launched on World Soil Day in Bhopal, India, aims to honor significant contributions
to soil health and sustainable farming practices. The awards are named after Professor Rattan Lal, a renowned soil scientist and World Food Prize laureate, who is recognized for his work in soil carbon sequestration and climate-resilient agriculture. Professor Lal participated in the event virtually from the United States, emphasizing the critical need for soil restoration to ensure food security and ecological balance. The inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Dr. M.H. Mehta for his leadership in eco-agriculture and soil regeneration. Thirteen other individuals and organizations were also recognized for their innovations in regenerative agriculture.
