U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5), Co-Chair of the House Commission on Artificial Intelligence and the Innovation Economy, has introduced a bipartisan back-to-school agenda focused on integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into K-12 education.
Speaking at George Washington Middle School in Ridgewood, N.J., Gottheimer announced the new bipartisan AI LABS Act, co-led by Congressman Jay Obernolte (CA-23). This legislation aims to help K-12 schools establish dedicated AI labs and provide training for teachers. The initiative also includes broader efforts to limit phone use in classrooms, protect resources for phone-free schools in New Jersey, enhance AI literacy, and bridge the digital divide to ensure all communities have online access.
