Connecticut workforce development agencies are set to expand job training programs with the help of $8 million in new federal funding. This initiative aims to support in-demand and emerging industries
such as advanced manufacturing and shipbuilding. The funding will also benefit training in construction, healthcare, information technology, and logistics. The Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board (NRWIB) emphasized that this funding will assist employers in training and retaining both new and existing workers, thereby encouraging long-term investment in the region's talent pipeline. The U.S. Department of Labor has awarded $86 million in Industry-Driven Skills Training Fund grants to 14 states, with more than $20 million allocated to revitalize the domestic shipbuilding industry.
