What's Happening?
In January 2019, a tailings dam in Brumadinho, Brazil, collapsed, releasing a significant amount of mining waste into the Paraopeba River. As part of the recovery efforts, Construtora Vale Verde is utilizing an amphibious Watermaster Classic V to remove
tailings from a 6 km stretch of the river. This technology is crucial for accessing the most challenging sections of the river, where traditional equipment cannot operate due to shallow waters and unstable banks. The Watermaster can navigate these areas without the need for new roads or temporary structures, making it an efficient tool for the restoration project. The goal is to safely remove the tailings to help the river and surrounding communities recover.
