What's Happening?
Japan has achieved a significant milestone in its space exploration efforts with the successful test flight of the RV-X experimental reusable rocket prototype. Conducted by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) at the Noshiro test facility, the test involved
a 24-foot-tall vehicle powered by a single engine. The rocket rose over 33 feet in the air and traveled approximately 50 feet horizontally before landing softly. This test marks a step forward in JAXA's collaboration with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and is part of a larger project called CALLISTO, which involves partnerships with France's CNES and Germany's DLR. The goal is to develop a single-stage rocket capable of vertical launch, landing, and reuse, positioning Japan in the competitive field of reusable launch services.
