What's Happening?
MEET48, a project originating from the team behind SNH48 and the rhythm game 'Audition,' is pioneering a new era in entertainment by integrating AI, user-generated content (UGC), and Web3 economics. The
platform has accumulated 3.8 million active users and over 500,000 on-chain wallets, showcasing its significant reach and engagement. MEET48 leverages AI-based character generation and performance tools, combined with a tokenized content asset framework, to enable users to participate in virtual idol creation and ownership. The project employs mechanisms like Proof of Creativity (PoC) and Virtual World Assets (VWA) to validate creator value and allow virtual idols to exist as tradable assets. MEET48 aims to establish a comprehensive Web3 entertainment ecosystem, expanding into GamingFi and planning to build an EVM-compatible PoC Layer2 within the BSC ecosystem.
Why It's Important?
The integration of AI and Web3 by MEET48 represents a significant shift in the entertainment industry, potentially redefining how content is produced, owned, and monetized. By creating a user co-creation economy, MEET48 addresses the structural contradiction between creation and value capture prevalent in Web2 platforms. This transformation could lead to fairer and more open value circulation, benefiting creators and users alike. The project's success could accelerate mainstream adoption of Web3 technologies, influencing the entertainment sector's economic infrastructure and community-driven participation models. As MEET48 evolves, it could set a precedent for other industries to follow, highlighting the potential of Web3 in transforming traditional business models.
What's Next?
MEET48 is expanding its operations by forming the 'Web3 Entertainment Alliance' with Hash Global and other partners to promote industry collaboration and cross-ecosystem development. This alliance aims to accelerate mainstream user onboarding and support sustainable token economic design. MEET48 plans to build an EVM-compatible PoC Layer2 within the BSC ecosystem, integrating users, assets, applications, and creator economies into a unified environment. This development could lead to scalable entertainment assetization and global user system integration, positioning MEET48 as a foundational infrastructure for on-chain entertainment.
Beyond the Headlines
The rise of generative AI and Web3 in entertainment could have broader implications for privacy and intellectual property rights. As virtual idols and content become tradable assets, questions about ownership and creator rights may arise, necessitating new legal frameworks. Additionally, the shift towards a user co-creation economy could influence cultural production, democratizing content creation and potentially altering traditional media consumption patterns. MEET48's approach may also impact how entertainment is monetized, challenging existing revenue models and encouraging innovation in digital asset management.
