What's Happening?
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has identified two individuals who died in separate incidents at Heavenly Ski Resort on February 20, 2026. Nicholas Jamil Haddad, 33, from West Bloomfield, Michigan, and Brian Robert Frias, 57, from Elk Grove, California,
were involved in unrelated accidents. Haddad was involved in an incident on the intermediate Orion trail and was transported to paramedics at Boulder Lodge, where he was pronounced dead after further emergency care. Frias experienced a serious medical event on the Tamarack Return trail and was also pronounced dead after being transported to medical staff. The causes of death are under investigation.
