President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Mona Quartey as Ghana's Ambassador to Italy. Quartey, a finance professional with over 30 years of experience, was commissioned alongside other envoys in Accra.
She holds degrees in Development Planning, Finance, and International Commercial Law, and has held senior positions at American Express and Citibank NA. As Deputy Minister of Finance, she helped achieve zero financing from the Bank of Ghana in 2016. Quartey has served on various boards, including Golden Star Resources PLC, and has been recognized for her contributions to the mining industry. During the ceremony, Quartey expressed readiness to support President Mahama's diplomatic goals, emphasizing the importance of promoting Ghana's image and economic growth.
