Rio Tinto has announced the extension of its partnership with the Clontarf Foundation for an additional five years. This collaboration, which began in 2008, aims to improve education and employment outcomes for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
men in Australia. The Clontarf network has expanded significantly since its inception, growing from 17 academies to 161, and now supports over 12,000 participants daily. The program focuses on building self-esteem and cultural identity, helping students remain connected to their schools and communities. A recent evaluation highlighted the program's effectiveness, with an 88% school retention rate and an 82% Year 12 completion rate among participants. The partnership also provides practical career pathways through worksite visits, mentoring, and direct employment opportunities.
