The Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) has inaugurated the Institute for Agriculture and Artificial Intelligence (IAAI), a new initiative aimed at addressing global food security
challenges through AI. The institute, established in collaboration with the International Affairs Office at the UAE Presidential Court and the Gates Foundation, focuses on enhancing the livelihoods of over 43 million smallholder farmers. It aims to provide AI-powered tools, training programs, and technical assistance to improve decision-making at the farm level. The IAAI will develop real-time advisory systems for crops, pests, soil conditions, weather patterns, and markets, thereby strengthening resilience to climate change. The institute also plans to create an open-access agricultural data corpus to support AI model training across various regions and crops.
