What's Happening?
Level Education Group, based in South Jordan, Utah, is partnering with the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic Transformation (CCBHC-T) Workforce Accelerator to expand the behavioral health workforce across Illinois, Kansas, and Michigan. The
initiative aims to address the shortage of mental health professionals by offering funded licensure support, training, and career pathways. The program provides up to $8,500 per participant for exam prep, fees, peer support, job-site training, and career development. Funding is provided by Ballmer Group, with leadership from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.
Why It's Important?
This partnership addresses a critical shortage in the mental health workforce, which affects over 137 million Americans living in areas with insufficient mental health professionals. By facilitating licensure and providing career support, the initiative aims to increase the number of qualified clinicians in high-need community settings. The program's success could serve as a model for similar efforts nationwide, potentially improving access to mental health services and reducing the burden on existing providers. The collaboration highlights the importance of public-private partnerships in addressing workforce challenges in the healthcare sector.
What's Next?
Applications for the first cohort of the Workforce Accelerator close on May 22, 2026. The program's progress will be monitored to assess its impact on the mental health workforce and community health outcomes. Stakeholders, including healthcare providers and policymakers, may explore opportunities to replicate the initiative in other regions facing similar workforce shortages. The partnership's success could lead to increased investment in mental health workforce development, further addressing the national shortage of mental health professionals.
