During the Russia-Africa SPIEF 2026 session, Russia announced plans to assist African countries in becoming self-sufficient in agriculture. The strategy involves reducing reliance on foreign markets for fertilizers by localizing production and establishing
regional warehousing facilities. Dmitry Konyaev, General Director of JSC UCC URALCHEM, emphasized that merely exporting more fertilizers is insufficient due to high logistics costs that make them unaffordable for smallholder farmers. The initiative aims to optimize supply chains and make fertilizers more accessible, thereby enhancing agricultural output across the continent.
