What's Happening?
The Ministry of IT and Telecom in Pakistan has initiated the Upskilling Training Program (USTP) to enhance skills in the semiconductor sector. This initiative is part of the National Semiconductor HR Development Program (NSHRDP), also known as INSPIRE,
with a budget of Rs. 4.844 billion. The program aims to position Pakistan as a competitive player in the global technology market. The Pakistan Software Export Board is spearheading the program, which includes a collaboration between Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology and NED University of Engineering and Technology. The training, focusing on digital design and verification, is set to begin in May 2026. Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja emphasized the program's role in empowering youth and integrating Pakistan into the global semiconductor value chain.
