What's Happening?
CarriersEdge has announced the opening of nominations for the 18th edition of the Best Fleets to Drive For program. This initiative evaluates and recognizes fleets based on their driver programs and workplace excellence across various categories. The nomination period is open until October 31, and it is available to all for-hire fleets operating 10 or more tractor-trailers in the U.S. or Canada, regardless of the freight segment. Participating fleets are required to complete a questionnaire and an interview, providing detailed information about their driver programs. Additionally, selected drivers are surveyed to supplement the information provided by management. The results are compiled and scored, with the top 20 scorers being recognized as the Best Fleets to Drive For. These top 20 are further divided into 'small' and 'large' fleet categories, with the highest-scoring fleet in each category being crowned Best Overall Fleet. Winners will be honored at the Best Fleets to Drive For Education & Awards Conference in March 2026.
Why It's Important?
The Best Fleets to Drive For program plays a significant role in highlighting excellence within the trucking industry, particularly in driver programs and workplace conditions. This recognition can enhance a fleet's reputation, making it more attractive to potential drivers and clients. In the context of the ongoing freight recession, as noted by Jane Jazrawy, CEO of CarriersEdge, the program underscores the importance of innovative and supportive practices for drivers. By spotlighting successful strategies, the program encourages other fleets to adopt similar practices, potentially leading to industry-wide improvements in driver satisfaction and retention. This can have a positive impact on the trucking industry, which is crucial for the U.S. economy, as it supports the movement of goods across the country.
What's Next?
As the nomination process continues, fleets will be preparing their submissions and participating in the evaluation process. The results of the program will be eagerly anticipated by industry stakeholders, as they provide insights into effective driver management practices. The recognition of top fleets at the upcoming conference in March 2026 will likely serve as a platform for sharing best practices and fostering collaboration among industry leaders. This could lead to further innovations and improvements in driver programs, benefiting the industry as a whole.
