What's Happening?
The Ramat Gan municipality has launched a pilot project to improve public transport accessibility using an AI-based system. Developed in partnership with Step-Hear, the system is implemented on Dan Bus
Line 67 and aims to provide independence for passengers with disabilities. The technology uses AI, Bluetooth, and a mobile app to guide passengers from bus stop to destination, offering real-time communication with drivers and alerts during the journey. This initiative is part of Ramat Gan's commitment to social and technological innovation.
Why It's Important?
This pilot project is a significant step towards making public transportation more inclusive and accessible for people with disabilities. By leveraging AI and smart technology, the system addresses common barriers faced by disabled passengers, such as locating bus stops and communicating with drivers. This innovation not only enhances the independence and confidence of users but also sets a new standard for accessible public services. The project could serve as a model for other cities looking to improve transit accessibility and inclusivity.
