Rolls-Royce has announced progress in the production of nuclear reactors for the SSN-AUKUS-class submarines intended for the UK Royal Navy and Royal Australian Navy. At the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) 2025 exhibition, a Rolls-Royce representative confirmed that production of reactor components for the second SSN-AUKUS submarine has begun at the Raynesway site in Derby. The UK Strategic Defence Review has outlined plans for up to 12 SSN-AUKUS-class submarines to replace the Astute class in the UK from the late 2030s, with additional submarines entering Australian service by the 2040s.
