What's Happening?
A joint venture led by Granite Construction has been awarded a $157 million contract to widen and replace the 22nd Street Bridge in Tucson, Arizona. The project involves replacing the existing four-lane bridge over Barraza-Aviation Parkway and the Union
Pacific Railroad with a new six-lane span. Additionally, the team will rebuild 22nd Street from Kino Parkway to Tucson Boulevard. The City of Tucson and the Regional Transportation Authority will fund the project, supplemented by a $25 million federal grant from the DOT's RAISE program. Granite will supply over 10,000 tons of asphalt from its Swan Facility for the construction.
