Israel's Education Ministry has announced the allocation of NIS 26 million to establish regional excellence centers in communities along the northern border. This initiative aims to expand educational programs in areas recovering from war and evacuation.
The centers will offer programs in advanced technology, STEM, arts, and sports, facilitated through partnerships with local authorities, regional clusters, academic institutions, industry, and philanthropic organizations. The Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) played a significant role in developing this regional model with Homeward/Habaita, an organization formed after the mass evacuations following the October 7 massacre. The initiative is designed to provide consistent, high-quality education, which is deemed essential for restoring communities and encouraging families to return to northern Israel.
