A 61-year-old man from West Roxbury, Massachusetts, was found dead after going missing while hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Kent Wood had embarked on a hiking trip over the weekend, starting from the Lafayette Campground in Lincoln. He
was last in contact with family and friends on Saturday afternoon. Despite being prepared for warm weather, unexpected snowfall of 3-5 inches occurred between Sunday and Monday, complicating his hike. Search efforts began on Tuesday morning, involving New Hampshire Fish and Game, PEMI Valley Search and Rescue, and the Army National Guard Helicopter. Wood was discovered deceased on a remote section of the Kinsman Pond Trail, approximately 5.5 miles from his vehicle. His body was carried out to the trailhead by rescuers, arriving early Wednesday morning.
