Remote or hybrid internships are not being accommodated for this term. Interested applicants must submit a resume, a brief cover letter, and their weekly hours of availability as a single combined document.
Why It's Important?
This internship program offers a significant opportunity for individuals to gain firsthand experience in the U.S. legislative process and public service. For those aspiring to careers in government, politics, or public policy, working in a Congressional office provides invaluable exposure to constituent services, legislative research, and communications. Interns will contribute to the daily operations of a federal representative's office, learning about the intricacies of policy-making and community engagement. The program also helps Congresswoman Kamlager-Dove's office maintain its operational capacity and connect with the next generation of public servants, fostering a pipeline of talent for future governmental roles. The in-person requirement underscores the immersive nature of the experience, allowing interns to fully engage with the office environment and its functions.
What's Next?
Prospective interns must prepare and submit their application materials by the November 16, 2026, deadline. Following the application period, the office will review submissions and select candidates for the Spring 2027 term. Successful applicants will begin their internships in mid-January 2027, with the term concluding in mid-April 2027, though some flexibility may be offered based on academic schedules. During their tenure, interns will engage in various tasks, including answering phones, assisting constituents, processing tour requests, conducting legislative research, and supporting communications efforts. The program aims to provide a comprehensive learning experience, preparing interns for future endeavors in public service.
Beyond the Headlines
Beyond the immediate operational needs of Congresswoman Kamlager-Dove's office, these internships play a crucial role in civic education and democratic participation. By offering practical experience in government, the program helps demystify the legislative process for young professionals and encourages active engagement in public affairs. It also provides a pathway for diverse voices to enter the political arena, potentially shaping future policy and leadership. The skills acquired—such as research, communication, and constituent relations—are transferable and highly valued across various sectors, contributing to the development of well-rounded professionals. This initiative reflects a broader commitment within Congress to foster new talent and ensure the continuity of informed public service.
