Christchurch Airport has announced a new direct flight route to Rarotonga, set to launch in May 2026. This seasonal service will operate three times a week until October, providing South Islanders with a direct connection to the Cook Islands. Previously,
travelers had to transit through Auckland to reach Rarotonga. The new route is expected to add approximately 18,000 seats, enhancing tourism and connectivity across the Pacific. The flights are scheduled to depart Christchurch in the afternoon, allowing passengers to enjoy a sunset meal upon arrival in Rarotonga.
