An Air India employee has been suspended following a security and immigration lapse that allowed three Italian nationals to board an international flight without completing mandatory departure immigration formalities. The incident occurred earlier this
month when the three individuals traveled from Amritsar to Munich via Delhi under India's hub-and-spoke aviation model. They arrived in Delhi on a domestic flight (AI1115) from Amritsar with domestic boarding passes. They were supposed to exit through a designated gate, complete departure immigration, and then proceed for their international journey. However, they were incorrectly escorted to the International-to-International transfer area and subsequently boarded Lufthansa flight LH763 for Munich without immigration clearance. Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu confirmed the suspension, stating that the staff member responsible for escorting passengers through designated airport pathways failed to follow prescribed procedures.
