What's Happening?
NASA, in collaboration with Axiom Space and Prada, has unveiled a new Liquid Cooling and Ventilation Garment (LCVG) designed for astronauts participating in the Artemis IV mission to the Moon in 2028. This garment will serve as a base layer under the Axiom Extravehicular
Mobility Unit (AxEMU) spacesuit, providing essential cooling and comfort. The LCVG circulates cold water through embedded tubes to manage body heat and includes a backup system for reliability. It also integrates a ventilation system to supply oxygen and manage carbon dioxide levels. This collaboration marks another instance of NASA blending high-tech materials with high-fashion design, following previous projects like the BioSuit concept.
