A fox in Worcester, Massachusetts, has tested positive for rabies after reportedly biting two people. The incidents occurred on August 12, when a 6-year-old girl was bitten on Jones Street, and on August 13, when a woman was bitten on Granite Street.

The animal was euthanized on August 13, and its rabies positive status was confirmed the following day by the Department of Public Health. This marks the fourth instance of a fox testing positive for rabies in Massachusetts this year, and the second time in Worcester where a rabid fox has attacked a person. In a separate event on August 17, a Worcester animal control officer shot and killed another fox that had targeted a family's pet dog on Harrington Way, with testing for rabies pending for that animal.
