What's Happening?
The America 250 Ohio Commission has introduced commemorative lapel pins representing Ohio's 88 counties to honor the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States. These pins, produced by the County Commissioners Association of Ohio, feature the outline
of each county along with the official America 250–Ohio logo. The initiative aims to celebrate the nation's semiquincentennial while highlighting Ohio's local heritage. The pins are available for purchase at the Ohio Statehouse Museum Shop in Columbus and online. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the CCAO Research and Educational Foundation, supporting education and research for Ohio residents.
Why It's Important?
This initiative is significant as it fosters a sense of community and state pride among Ohioans while contributing to the broader national celebration of the United States' 250th anniversary. By involving local communities, the project not only honors Ohio's historical contributions but also supports educational and research efforts through the proceeds. The pins serve as a tangible connection to Ohio's role in the nation's history, encouraging civic engagement and awareness of local heritage.
