What's Happening?
Genomics England, in collaboration with the University of Cambridge, launched a campaign using dominoes to encourage health discussions within the UK's Caribbean community. The initiative aims to break
the silence around genetic health issues by leveraging culturally resonant activities. The campaign includes a short film featuring a grandmother and grandson discussing family health, premiered during Black History Month, and distributed through various community channels.
Why It's Important?
The campaign addresses health disparities in the Caribbean community by promoting open conversations about genetic conditions. By using culturally familiar mediums, the initiative seeks to build trust and encourage proactive health management. This approach highlights the importance of culturally sensitive public health strategies in addressing systemic health inequalities and improving outcomes for marginalized groups.
