What's Happening?
The Emilio Nares Foundation (ENF) organized its inaugural Family Resource Fair at the Cambria hotel in Imperial on May 28, 2026. The event aimed to support families of children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases by providing access to various
community resources. Over 100 people registered for the fair, which featured booths from community partners offering services such as food assistance, workforce development programs, and legal aid. The fair also included activities for children, such as arts and crafts, highlighting ENF's Healing through Nature initiative. The foundation, which has been active in the Imperial Valley for a decade, focuses on helping low-income families meet basic needs, particularly transportation for medical appointments.
Why It's Important?
The Family Resource Fair is significant as it provides crucial support to families dealing with the challenges of childhood cancer and other severe illnesses. By connecting families with community resources, the event helps alleviate some of the financial and logistical burdens these families face. The fair also raises awareness about the services offered by the Emilio Nares Foundation, such as free transportation to medical appointments, which can be a lifeline for families in remote areas. This initiative underscores the importance of community support in addressing the complex needs of families affected by serious health conditions.
