What's Happening?
The Massachusetts AI Models Innovation Challenge has awarded over $1.6 million in funding to several universities to develop AI solutions for real-world problems. Northeastern University received two grants,
including $504,043 for an AI platform to provide real-time risk assessments for coastal regions, and $16,500 for an open-source product design tool. Western New England University was awarded $500,000 to create a multi-sensor AI system for detecting defects in metal additive manufacturing. Worcester Polytechnic Institute received two awards totaling over $600,000 for projects in waste management and industrial recycling. Other recipients include Boston Children’s Hospital and EarthDNA, focusing on healthcare and recycling innovations.
