What's Happening?
Austal has partnered with Dutch shipbuilder Damen to construct LST 100 vessels for the Australian Defence Force. The agreement involves building these vessels at the Henderson Shipyard in Western Australia, with Damen providing the design and necessary
licenses. The Australian Department of Defence awarded Austal a contract worth approximately AUD4 billion to build eight landing craft heavy vessels. Construction is set to begin in 2026, with completion expected by 2038.
