Google.org has announced a $400,000 investment to support workforce development in Indiana's electrical industry. The funding will benefit three apprenticeship training partners: the Electrical Training Institute of Indianapolis, Electrical JATC of Northern Indiana, and Fort Wayne Electrical JATC. These programs, which are collaborations between the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), aim to integrate AI training into their curriculum, expand enrollment through a first-year training initiative called Apprenticeship Direct, and provide apprentices with access to Google's AI Essentials course. The initiative is expected to increase training capacity to support 524 additional apprentices by 2030, addressing the shortage of skilled workers needed for clean energy, AI, and advanced infrastructure projects.
