The Tamil Nadu government, under the leadership of Chief Minister M K Stalin, has launched the Tamil Nadu Semiconductor Mission 2030 as part of its efforts to position the state as a global hub for electronics manufacturing. This initiative is part of a broader
strategy to enhance the state's capabilities in semiconductor manufacturing and design. The government has also introduced the Semiconductor and Advanced Electronics Policy to support this vision. Tamil Nadu has emerged as India's leading state in electronics exports, with shipments valued at USD 14.65 billion. The state contributes approximately 41% of India's total electronics exports. The government has also inaugurated a new electronic equipment manufacturing facility in Kancheepuram, a joint venture between US-based Corning International Limited and India's Optiemus Infracomm Ltd, which is expected to create 840 jobs.
