What's Happening?
The FAO/WHO Coordinating Committee for the Near East (CCNE) and the Arab Industrial Development, Standardization and Mining Organization (AIDSMO) have conducted the 50th and 51st meetings of Arab and CCNE Codex contact points. These meetings were held
in preparation for the 49th Session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC). The gatherings, part of the Arab Codex Initiative, aimed to bolster regional collaboration and engagement in the Codex Alimentarius process. Participants included representatives from the Gulf Cooperation Council Standardization Organization and various national and regional bodies. Discussions focused on standards adoption, new proposals, strategic governance, and emerging issues relevant to Codex work. Key regional priorities such as food labeling, food additives, and veterinary drug residues were also addressed.
