Severe weather conditions have led to the implementation of ground stops at both O'Hare International Airport and Midway Airport in Chicago. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), a ground stop was initiated at O'Hare just before noon
and was lifted shortly after 3 p.m., although delays continued to average 100 minutes. Midway Airport also experienced a ground stop from just before 1 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. These measures mean that flights bound for Chicago are being held at their departure airports, and there are reported delays for departing flights from O'Hare.
